Obverse: In the center, the national shield in sculptural relief surrounded with the legend "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS". Surrounding it and following the outline of the frame, the reproduction of different shields used throughout the history of our country, as well as the eagle found in the central part of the first page of the Mendocino Codex.
Reverse: A scene showing the image of a pronghorn, at the top the symbol of the Mint of Mexico, at the bottom the number "2000", and to its left, on a leading from the vertical axis to the left, the "$" sign and then the number "5". In the upper right quadrant the inscription "BERRENDO". In the lower right quadrant the legend "ANIMALS IN DANGER OF EXTINCTION IN MEXICO". In the upper left quadrant the scientific name of the species (Antilocapra americana).
